Flamenco Burlesque Part One

Bianca Rodriguez began dancing Ballet and Spanish Classical at the tender age of 3. She pursued music, theatre, and dance during her most formative years. At the age of 19 she began to seriously pursue Flamenco under the direction of the National Institute of Flamenco in Albuquerque, New Mexico. While attending the University of New Mexico in which she received a BA in Dance with an emphasis in Flamenco, she studied with La Tati, El Torombo, Adela Campallo, Inmaculada Ortega, Manuel Linan, and Karime Amaya. She worked in several professional companies under the direction of Juan Siddi, Antonio Granjero, Carlota Santana, and Yaelisa Petlin. She continued her studies in Sevilla, the birthplace of Flamenco under Juana Amaya, Farruquito, El Torombo, and Angelita Vargas. While in Sevilla she performed at the local tablao La Puerta Sol. Bianca is also an avid holistic practitioner and loves to combine the mind, body, spirit connection. She was able to apply her studies in India while working on Oliver Rajamani’s show, Flamenco India, which incorporated Yoga, Kathak, and Flamenco with a wide ensemble of established musicians ranging from sitar to harp. While working in California she had the opportunity to work with Paquera de Jerez nephew, Jose Mendez. Bianca feels that dancing is a spiritual journey and has certifications in Yoga, Pilates, Barre, and NIA where she has found a deeper purpose and connection with movement. She is an actress and has worked in short films.

Bianca Rodríguez comenzó a bailar ballet clásico y español a la edad de 3 años, e inició música, teatro y danza durante sus años de formación. A la edad de 19 realizó estudios de flamenco bajo la dirección del Instituto Nacional de Flamenco en Albuquerque, Nuevo México. Asistió a la Universidad de Nuevo México donde obtuvo una licenciatura en Danza con énfasis en Flamenco y estudió con La Tati, El Torombo, Adela Campallo, Inmaculada Ortega, Manuel Liñán y Karime Amaya. Así mismo, trabajó con varias compañías profesionales bajo la dirección de Juan Siddi, Antonio Granjero y otros. Continuó sus estudios en Sevilla, cuna del flamenco bajo Juana Amaya, Farruquito y Angelita Vargas. En Sevilla se presentó en el local tablao La Puerta Sol. Bianca practica las ciencias holístico ansiosamente, donde combina la mente, el cuerpo y la conexión espiritual; aplicó sus estudios en la India, trabajando con Oliver Rajamani, en el Flamenco de India, que incorpora Yoga, Kathak, y flamenco con un amplio conjunto de músicos que interpretan el sitar y el arpa. Bianca siente que el baile es un viaje espiritual y tiene certificaciones en yoga, Pilates, Barre y NIA donde ella ha encontrado un propósito y la conexión con el movimiento más profundo.

Charango Flamenco

Bolivian composer and two-time Latin Grammy nominee Eddy Navia, co-founder of Savia Andina and director of Sukay performs Buleria de la Cal by Diego del Gastor on the Bolivian charango with son Gabriel Navia on guitar. Eddy and Quentin Navia opened Peña Pachamama, for almost two decades one of the most important gathering place for musicians and dancers dedicated to Latin American and Bolivian music and culture.

Compositor boliviano y dos veces nominado al Grammy Latino Eddy Navia, co-fundador de Savia Andina y director de Sukay realiza Bulería de la Cal por Diego del Gastor en el charango boliviano con hijo Gabriel Navia en la guitarra. Eddy y Quentin Navia abrieron la Peña Pachamama, durante casi dos décadas del más importante lugar de reunión para músicos y bailarines dedicados a la cultura y música latinoamericana y boliviana.
