Education

Research and Education

Through this channel, teaching methods with high school students in areas of Bogotá and Los Angeles will be implemented; training processes are comprehensive with advice on the environment and presentations in conservation programs supported by the Ministries of Education, Energy, and Infrastructure will be made. Informational materials and forms of scientific knowledge train students about ecosistema, conservation, and energy savings. With the support of organizations dedicated to protecting the environment, promoting credibility will be achieved in each environmental area.

Also, the educational community will be invited to join the production team of documentaries, newsgatherings, and program implementation. Subsequently, these documentaries will be screened to face the most critical problems in the environmental society of the city and the planet, discussing with students the material displayed. Finally, forums will be held with students to hear their views and dialogues that foster the democratic exercise of the discussion, the right to think, and involvement in development plans that will promote human rights, prevention of violence, and consumption of drugs.

The development of information and communication that link science and technology with the environment yields results and impacts will be provided. The most interested and committed students will be invited to participate in sustainable development programs, local, regional, and global activities, communication tools and innovative methodologies.

These workshops will undoubtedly improve the quality of education and ensure understanding of the reality of the environment. Technology equipment and skills will prepare them properly to develop a spirit of researching, questioning, and reasoning. The work will be assessed to focus on the problems and solutions for a better quality of education. Students will learn about different cultures and gain a world view, along with a perspective, and dedication to pursue a balance of living with nature.

Likewise, communication workshops will be held where students learn camera techniques, editing and production tools, equipment and materials to develop their skills and engage students in learning field practices —learning through participation.

Learning Environment

The student must meet formal schooling to learn a trade in their spare time.  This would assign responsibility within the student to respect and protect the environment, safeguard, and defend technical knowledge and skills. The responsibilities of the institutions, school and college, is to provide a safe and productive learning environment conducive to complying with the terms of responsibility to society.

It will promote environmentally sustainable city designs to build green housing that is part of what is known as an eco-city that tends to improve the quality of life. Lack of urban planning has led to adverse consequences for the cities with the displacement of millions of people, pollution, congestion, and mobility problems generated by the rise in energy costs from high carbon dioxide emissions. Urban planners should create eco-cities, and public housing projects where construction is actively developing efficiently and sustainably.

It must generate plans for a more sustainable future, as there is an increase in population migrating to cities.  Urban problems grow as the number of people living in the periphery exceeds the rural population, while migration in major cities is subject to traffic congestion that wastes energy. The distance between work and home are often long, which creates more stress, pollution and carbon dioxide gases.

Policy is needed in order to create urban design planning with adequate clean technology. It requires changing the land use to avoid long distances to school, parks, and shops, and concentrated development around transport stations.

Although there is no definition of what it means to become an eco-city, what is sought is to place a series of indicators that we believe are broad goals (ambitious but achievable) which include greater use as in the case of electricity, for some sectors are subsidized by 20%, of  renewable resources, and other from non-traditional sources.

There will be programs on climate change aimed at students who, with the help of environmentalists and scientists, observe the disappearance of species and problems to adapt to changing temperatures. These programs bring students closer to the plants and animals whose habitat is inaccessible.  Students will develop fieldwork through which they learn to work and be a part of science, as well as gaining scientific understanding of the world, and propitiate to preserve species and water reserves.  Furthermore, they will debate about the mobility of vehicles, whether to use electric cars, hydrogen gas, or fuel. It is an environmental dilemma and should be considered to generate no environmental damage, use renewable energy, or create hydrogen, a process that is free of coal and gas that adheres to the atmosphere, since the use of fossil gases is harmful to the environment and our health. In the United States, 13,000 people die each year as a result of these gases.
